Urban Farming at Warrington PCI

Warrington PCI Management is a fully integrated real estate company that has been managing properties for over 30 years. They recognize their responsibility to make sustainable policies, procedures, and strategic decision-making, which has led to their sustainability objectives to have 65% of their portfolio be BOMA BEST certified by 2030. This resulted in their partnership with MircroHabitat in 2022 and the installation of 7 new urban vegetable gardens on their rooftops across Vancouver.

Warrington PCI has played an important role in our Urban Solidarity Farms initiative, which dedicates the harvests of our farms to local food banks. Through this initiative, they have been able to donate roughly 1300 pounds of fresh produce to food banks in Vancouver in 2022. Several of these food banks include the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, Food Stash Foundation, which keeps surplus food from going to waste and delivers groceries to insecure households, and the Aboriginal Front Door Society, whose goal is to serve at-risk individuals in the Downtown East Side.

Our partnership has also contributed to providing 200 breakfasts to children across Canada through the Breakfast Club of Canada. Through this initiative, 1 meal is given to a child in need with every sale of our urban farming pots.

The benefits of urban farming with us has had a great impact in Vancouver thanks to the efforts of our Vancouver team. These include the reduction of heat islands and greenhouse gases, preservation of biodiversity in the city, resilience of food systems, supporting of local communities, and increases in property value. We thank Warrington PCI for joining us in this sustainability journey and look forwarded to our continued partnership with them.
