Feeding the youth, one urban farm at a time

The Breakfast Club of Canada has been committed to nurturing children’s potential since 1994 by ensuring that as many children as possible have access to a nutritious breakfast.

The Club’s approach is to offer more than just breakfast to children as its focus is also based on the engagement, empowerment and development of our youth. Operating across Canada, the Breakfast Club helps feed more than 490 000 Canadian children over 3,000 school and community programs across Canada.

According to the latest reports released by the Breakfast Club of Canada, nearly 2 million children in the country are likely to arrive at school with an empty stomach – that’s 1 in 3 children suffering from hunger.

The benefits of a breakfast program are numerous. For example, children demonstrate a more positive attitude, are less stressed and their learning skills are improved. Also, because of the caring community created, students feel included and have a greater sense of belonging.

In order to achieve its mission, the Breakfast Club can count on the support of partners like us. Each MicroHabitat pot sold provides a child with a meal, as our mission is to support local communities and work towards food security for all.

This contribution and solid partnership is made possible thanks to our valued customers that allowed us to offer nearly 1700 nutritious breakfast to students in Quebec last season.

The partnership is now being extended to our US branches thanks to Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry® campaign. No Kid Hungry is working to end childhood hunger by helping launch and improve programs that give all kids the healthy food they need to thrive.

Let’s act together to end food insecurity, let’s cultivate change!
